Dear Delegates, Advisors, Staffers, and Friends,

I am privileged to welcome you to the first ever edition of Model United Nations at Arizona State University’s collegiate conference, DevilMUN. Hosted in Tempe, Arizona, right in the heart of the vibrant and ever-changing Valley of the Sun, we aim to serve delegations near and far by offering the very first collegiate conference hosted in the state of Arizona. We look forward to providing delegates the opportunity to discuss real issues faced throughout the Southwest, fostering beautiful intellectual exchange between college delegates, and creating an unforgettable weekend set in the temperate winter of our Valley.

DevilMUN I is not only a weekend full of debate and discussion, but the culmination of years of thought and effort by MUN students at capturing how to create an innovative conference. Our committees represent a wide array of ideas and problems, but all center around the issues of the present and the past that inform daily life in the Southwest. Our staff are driven to create memorable experiences for delegates through our knowledge on the issues, and through channeling all the greatest memories and systems we have seen throughout our careers. DevilMUN is not just a conference, but the long-standing pet project of MUN at ASU. Our foundation was laid by members of the club that knew they would not be able to see the execution of their vision before they graduated, but persisted nevertheless. Other key details emerged by taking inspiration from past conferences that reminded us of the very spirit that encouraged us to join Model United Nations in the first place. DevilMUN is the result of eager conversations between Director General Anna Wangerin and I, in all places and all weather, whether it was walking down the streets of D.C., Montréal, Taipei, or Los Angeles, or the summer heat of our conference’s home of Tempe. This conference is our pride and joy, and we cannot wait to welcome you to all that we have to offer.

Outside of the conference’s activity of debate and discussion itself is Tempe and the beautiful campus of Arizona State University. We invite you for a weekend to enjoy the scenery of the desert during the Valley’s wonderfully temperate February, to explore the nightlife and ever-changing urban landscape of Downtown Tempe, and to help us bring the heat to collegiate Model United Nations. We hope to see you in the Valley for debate in the desert from February 5th to 8th of 2026!

Sincerely,

Chase H. Baugh
